| Port activities require continuous or occasional dredging of considerable quantities of sediments : approximately 50 million m3 along the French coastline. A large proportion of the dredgings is authorized for dumping at sea in geographically delimited areas and following an impact evaluation of their potential harmfulness to the marine environment. The environmental risks assessment linked to dredging operations relies on knowledge related to several scientific disciplines contributing to changes in the regulations. | The study undertaken during the 1994-1998 planning contract on the Breton fishing fleet made it possible to underscore the size of the economic activity in regional territorial waters: More than 85% of the ships work there. This space, which is a matter of national sovereignty, is mainly managed at the regional level. To clarify the paths that may need to be taken, it seemed opportune to us to identify spatially the coastal fisheries, as well as the main current problems of planning. The fishing zones were mapped. | La spécificité du mode d'alimentation des coquillages fouisseurs présentera toujours un facteur de risques important pour leur qualité bactériologique car ils filtrent les particules présentes sur le sédiment superficiel fortement contaminé. Sur le Bassin d'Arcachon, 300 tonnes de coques et 120 tonnes de palourdes sont pêchées au banc d'Arguin et sur les vasières internes du nord-est de la baie. Leur taux de contamination varie de façon importante selon les sites et les périodes de l'année. Si le secteur central du bassin (île aux oiseaux) semble indemne de pollution, la majorité des zones de pêche peut être ponctuellement contaminée. | Introduction : Intra-basin fishing is not grasped as well, partly because of a lack of distinction between pure professional fishing units and conchological units and on the other hand because of the large amount of ships. Poorly adapted codification of the equipment found in the basin is also contributing to this lack of information. | The "Artificial reefs" and "Repopulating" issues have been tackled by the Ifremer for a number of years without reaching a clear cut point of view, mainly for lack of socio-economic elements necessary to a rigorous analysis of these devices and practices. During a mission in Japan in January 2006, some Japanese experts, have presented to the head of the Ifremer a few examples of realisations related to these fields and conducted in their country.
